Palmerston Tai Chi, Tai Chi for resilience, Vintage Vitality
By Nelda Rodillo | Founder of Vintage Vitality™ | Creator of The Unfreezing Hour™
Today marked my first session back in Palmerston — and it was everything my heart needed and more. As soon as I walked into the room, I saw familiar faces, alongside new ones who arrived with curiosity and openness. The room was full, the energy was warm, welcoming, and quietly joyful. It felt like stepping into a community that has been growing even when I was away.
We began with Shibashi as our warm‑up — gentle, flowing movements that help everyone settle into their breath and body. From there, we explored two movements from Sun‑Style Tai Chi, moving slowly, intentionally, and with a shared sense of ease. Even with my hand brace on, I flowed with them. Tai Chi is gentle, and today it reminded me again that movement doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful.
Before and after class, we hugged — real, heartfelt hugs that said “I’m glad you’re here” without needing words. Some students stayed long after class just to chat, reconnect, and share stories. These moments are the quiet threads that weave a community together.
But there was one comment I will carry with me for a long time.
One of my most loyal students — someone who has been with me since the very beginning of my teaching journey in Palmerston — said openly:
“This is the most beautiful and enjoyable first session I’ve ever had with you. You’re a different teacher now. There’s so much clarity… the energy is just different.”
Hearing that touched me deeply.
Because she’s right.
I am a different teacher now — shaped by the people I’ve met, the communities I’ve served, the programs I’ve built, and the resilience work that has become the heart of Vintage Vitality™. I’ve grown, softened, strengthened, and clarified. And today, that growth met the room in a way I could feel.
It was a fantastic session — not because everything was perfect, but because everything was real.
Real movement.
Real connection.
Real community.
And this is only the beginning.
