Vintage Vitality™: Aging with dignity, strength, and grace through Tai Chi, gentle movement, and creative journaling.
My classes are gentle, supportive, and beginner-friendly. Movements are adapted to your comfort level, helping you feel more confident, balanced, and strong. Soft, relaxing music often accompanies practice to create a calm and mindful atmosphere.
Not at all! Beginners are very welcome. Each movement can be modified to suit your ability and comfort, whether standing or seated, so you can move at your own pace.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Flat shoes or socks are fine. You may bring water or a small towel if you like.
Classes are typically 60 minutes, giving you time to move, stretch, and feel relaxed.
Yes — all movements are gentle and adaptable. If you have specific concerns, let me know before class, and I will offer modifications to ensure your comfort and safety.

Many students mention how much they enjoy the calm, peaceful music during practice — it helps create a relaxing, supportive environment.
Vintage Vitality™ is my unique wellness approach that combines gentle Tai Chi–inspired movement, mindful daily practice, and reflective journaling. It encourages people to reconnect with their bodies while also nurturing creativity and emotional well-being. Inspired by the layered beauty of vintage journals, the approach honors life experience while cultivating balance, calm, and vitality.
Not at all. Vintage Vitality™ is designed to be welcoming for beginners. Journaling is simply a way to reflect and relax after mindful movement. You can write a few words, sketch, or simply enjoy the quiet moment. There is no right or wrong way to do it.
Most of my classes focus primarily on gentle Tai Chi and mindful movement. However, from time to time I may introduce optional journaling prompts or creative reflection as part of the Vintage Vitality approach.
Movement helps release tension and awaken the body, while journaling helps calm the mind and process thoughts and emotions. Together, they create a holistic practice that supports both physical and mental well-being.
Why combine Tai Chi with "Mindful Paper-Crafting"?
I believe that true vitality comes from moving the body and engaging the mind. While Tai Chi builds balance and core strength, the intricate movements of paper-crafting—like precise folding and cutting—help maintain fine motor skills and hand dexterity that are essential for daily independence.
I’m not an artist. Can I still do the journaling part?
Absolutely! Just as there is no "perfect form" in Nelda’s Tai Chi, there are no "perfect pages" in her journaling. This isn't about being a professional artist; it’s about the cognitive benefits of creative play. Studies show that engaging in creative hobbies can lower the risk of cognitive impairment and help reduce stress by over 70%.
How does this help my health?
This "dual-task" approach—caring for the body and the brain—is a powerful tool for healthy aging.
For the Body: Improved coordination, reduced fall risk, and joint flexibility.
For the Brain: Enhanced memory recall, better focus, and a creative outlet for emotional well-being.
Yes, in the future I hope to offer special workshops and retreats where participants can experience gentle Tai Chi, enjoy tea and conversation, and explore creative journaling together in a peaceful setting.
I’d love to welcome you to a class — whether standing or seated, in person or online.
