Nelda Rodillo has been selected to deliver an oral presentation at the 55th Annual Scientific and Educational Meeting of the Canadian Association on Gerontology (CAG2026) in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
Her abstract, “Full Circle Vitality: A Community-Based, Cross-Cultural Model for Active Aging,” was accepted for oral presentation in the session:
Rethinking Health and Wellbeing: Meaning, Concepts and Approaches
October 16, 2026 | Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
The presentation reflects the evolution of Nelda's work through Vintage Vitality™—a community-based approach to active aging that brings together gentle movement, Tai Chi, Qigong, yoga, mindfulness, and reflective practices.
At the heart of the model is a simple but powerful idea: wellbeing is more than physical health. It encompasses movement, meaning, connection, self-awareness, and the ability to continue participating fully in life as we age.
Being selected to share this work at CAG2026 marks an important new chapter for Vintage Vitality™—bringing lessons from community-based practice into a broader conversation about aging, health, and wellbeing.
Nelda's journey was also recognized in the 300th commemorative issue of Dr. Paul Lam's Tai Chi and Health Newsletter, published by the Tai Chi for Health Institute (TCHI).
The special issue featured “A Letter from Nelda,” sharing her journey with Tai Chi for Health and her experience bringing gentle, accessible movement into rural communities.
For Nelda, this recognition carries special meaning.
Her work is deeply influenced by the Tai Chi for Health approach developed by Dr. Paul Lam, whose programs have helped make Tai Chi accessible to people of many ages and abilities around the world.
Today, Nelda continues to teach Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention, while encouraging members of her growing community who feel called to deepen their own practice and become part of the Tai Chi for Health teaching journey.
Being included in TCHI's 300th issue represents a meaningful connection between Nelda's local community work and the wider international Tai Chi for Health community.
Nelda's work has also received recognition closer to home through a feature in The Wellington Advertiser, highlighting her work bringing gentle Tai Chi and mindful movement to communities across Wellington County and surrounding rural Ontario.
What began as a desire to make accessible movement available to adults in her own community has continued to grow into a wider network of classes and partnerships.
Through Vintage Vitality™, Nelda brings movement into community spaces where people already gather—creating welcoming environments where adults can move, breathe, connect, learn, and discover that growing older does not mean becoming less engaged with life.
The Wellington Advertiser feature represents something especially important to Nelda: local impact matters.
Every class begins with a room, a group of people, and a willingness to move together.
And from those small beginnings, something much larger can grow.
These milestones represent different chapters of the same journey.
The Wellington Advertiser reflects the roots of the work—serving real people in real communities.
The Tai Chi and Health Newsletter's 300th Commemorative Issue reflects connection with a wider Tai Chi for Health community and the traditions that continue to shape Nelda's teaching.
CAG2026 opens the door to a broader professional and academic conversation about active aging, health, wellbeing, and community-based approaches.
Together, they affirm the direction of Vintage Vitality™:
Nelda believes that movement is not simply something we do to stay physically healthy.
Movement can help us stay connected to ourselves and to one another.
It can create confidence.
It can create community.
It can remind us that our bodies are still capable of learning, adapting, strengthening, and expressing joy.
And it can help us approach every stage of life with greater presence and possibility.
These recognitions are meaningful—but they are not the destination.
The heart of Vintage Vitality™ remains in the communities, the classrooms, the conversations, and the people who show up each week ready to move.
One breath.
One movement.
One connection.
One community at a time.
This is Vintage Vitality™.
Aging with dignity.
Moving with purpose.
Living with vitality.
Vintage Vitality™ invites you to return to yourself—slowly, gently, and with deep respect—so you can move through life with steadiness, clarity, and renewed joy.
