On May 28, just two days before I flew back to Canada, I witnessed something extraordinary in my hometown of Bacoor, Cavite — a celebration that felt like both a homecoming and a living tribute to my parents’ legacy.
The Ginintuang Binhi Elderly Association, founded twenty years ago by my late father Cornelio Gatpandan and my mother Aida, gathered for its annual May Flower Festival.
Eighty‑one members filled the venue, joined by senior cluster heads from Bacoor, OSCA representatives, barangay officials, and even our mayor, Strike Revilla.
It was a day overflowing with joy, color, and gratitude.
Ginintuang Binhi — “Golden Seeds” — started humbly, right in our family home.
My father believed that seniors deserved not just care, but community, purpose, and joy.
What began as a handful of members has grown into a vibrant organization with its own office, facilities, and a covered court where laughter, music, and movement fill the air.
This year’s festival was a living testament to that vision.
Twenty members and I performed a Sun‑Style Tai Chi flow with music — a gentle, graceful sequence designed for arthritis and fall prevention.
As we moved together, I felt the energy of the crowd rise — calm yet powerful, unified yet individual.
The flow was beautifully demonstrated, and the feedback we received was heartwarming.
It was Tai Chi not as performance, but as connection — a shared rhythm of breath and gratitude.
The festival was alive with performances — singing, dancing, the May Flower pageant, and tables overflowing with food lovingly prepared by members and families.
After the formal program ended, no one wanted to go home.
Music played, and we turned the court into a dance floor.
We line‑danced to steps I had taught them, laughing, hugging, and celebrating the simple joy of movement.
That spontaneous moment — seniors dancing freely — was the purest expression of Vintage Vitality™ I could imagine.
As Ginintuang Binhi approaches its 20th anniversary in August, I am reminded that this community is more than an organization — it’s a living legacy of love, resilience, and purpose.
It embodies everything my father dreamed of and everything my mother continues to nurture.
It is proof that aging can be joyful, dignified, and deeply connected.
To the members, families, and friends who filled that day with laughter and light — thank you.
To my parents, whose vision continues to bloom — thank you.
And to Bacoor, my hometown, where the seeds of Vintage Vitality™ were first planted — thank you.
This is what it means to age with grace.
This is what it means to move with joy.
This is what it means to be Ginintuang Binhi — the Golden Seeds that keep growing.
