There is a quiet, powerful magic that happens when a community comes together to breathe, move, and heal.
This week marked the opening session of our second 6-week Summer series in Palmerston—my founding community. Looking out across the room, my heart was full to see a beautiful blend of returning practitioners and warm new faces. The space immediately filled with an eager energy, shared vulnerability, and wonderful moments of laughter.
For our returning students, it was a joyful return to grounding, standing meditation, and the rhythmic flow of Shibashi. For our newcomers, we slowed everything down, breaking down the foundational forms mindfully so that every body felt supported.
What made this session truly unforgettable was the open sharing that followed our closing movements. Several participants shared how this dedicated hour is helping them navigate past trauma, rebuild structural confidence in their physical bodies, and access a deep, lingering sense of safety and relaxation.
As a movement educator, hearing these reflections is the ultimate validation of why we practice. We are not just exercising; we are teaching the nervous system that it is safe to expand, balance, and thrive.
At Daily Movement with Nelda, our seasonal classes are rooted in deep clinical research and proven lineages:
Sun-Style Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention: Our core curriculum utilizes the globally recognized forms developed by Dr. Paul Lam. This specific style is celebrated for its gentle, high-upright stances, agile footwork, and unique Qigong healing depths—making it safe and highly effective for joint health and stability.
The Unfreezing Hour™ Framework: To seamlessly prepare the body and mind, we begin each session with my signature Unfreezing Hour™ warm-up exercises and focused, mindful breathing. This specialized sequence gently releases deep-seated physical tension, coordinates internal rhythm, and anchors the mind in the present moment before we enter the Tai Chi forms.
Vintage Vitality™: This guiding philosophy frames our entire practice. We believe that aging is not a process of decline, but an entry into a "vintage" era—one defined by core strength, emotional resilience, stability, and quiet joy.
Watching the visible progression in how my Palmerston students move, stand, and hold themselves is an incredible honor. I am profoundly grateful to every single person who steps onto the floor with me.
If you are looking to reclaim confidence in your body, calm a busy mind, or reduce chronic joint pain, there is a space waiting for you here. Our gentle movements are open to all ages and skill levels, and every form can be practiced completely standing or comfortably seated.
