Discover how gentle Tai Chi and yoga for adults focus on effort, curiosity, and body awareness. Celebrate movement, connection, and honoring your body at every step.
Once a month, I teach a small group of adults who remind me why movement matters beyond exercise.
In our sessions, some poses are simple on paper — a gentle stretch, a slow balance shift — yet even these shapes can feel challenging. And still, each person shows up, curious and willing.
Movement here isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence, effort, and honoring the body you have today.
Every session begins with gentle warm-ups to awaken the body and prepare the mind.
We follow with a mix of Tai Chi and yoga, moving slowly, mindfully, and intentionally. Sometimes we return to Tai Chi after yoga to help the body settle and integrate the practice.
Even in poses that feel difficult, participants try. They laugh, share small stories, and celebrate each attempt. The room is full of honesty, curiosity, and joy.
One of the most remarkable things I notice is curiosity.
They ask questions.
They seek “homework” — one or two simple poses to practice at home until we meet again.
They approach movement with openness, patience, and self-respect.
In this space, strength is not measured by flexibility or perfect form. It is measured by showing up, trying again, and moving with awareness.
I move with the group, sharing the same flow, adjusting for my body as I do for theirs. By the end of each session, my body feels refreshed, my heart is full, and the energy in the room is uplifting.
Movement becomes a shared experience — a dance of presence, patience, and gentle encouragement.
In these sessions, I am reminded that movement is not about achieving the “right” pose.
It’s about:
Listening to your body
Honoring what it can do today
Experiencing curiosity and joy in motion
Finding connection with others through shared effort
This is what I call presence over perfection — a philosophy I hope all my students carry beyond the class.
Sometimes strength doesn’t look dramatic.
Sometimes it looks like showing up.
Trying again.
Laughing when something feels hard.
And staying open anyway.
In this room, every small movement is a victory. Every attempt is celebrated. And that, to me, is more than enough.
