On March 31, 2026, I led an hour‑long Tai Chi introduction class at the New Provincial Capitol in Trece Martires City. The session was attended by four department heads—Fely Servanez of PSWDO, Engr. Lorna Leyran of PPDO, Eloisa Comia of POPCOM, and Dr. Eloisa Rozul of PDRRMO—along with several staff members.
Together, we explored Shibashi Qigong, practiced Sun‑style Tai Chi, and ended with a few Yang‑style forms, moving very slowly to cool down. It was a gentle yet powerful introduction to mindful movement.
This moment connects beautifully with my upcoming demonstration for Ginintuang Binhi. You can read more about that here: [Bringing Sun‑Style Tai Chi to Ginintuang Binhi, Philippines].
Each department brings unique responsibilities to the province, and Tai Chi offers benefits that align beautifully with their work:
PSWDO (Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office)
Supporting families and communities requires compassion and resilience. Tai Chi nurtures calm presence, helping leaders and staff stay grounded while serving others.
PPDO (Provincial Planning and Development Office)
Planning for growth and sustainability demands focus and clarity. Tai Chi cultivates mindfulness and balance, qualities that strengthen decision‑making and long‑term vision.
POPCOM (Population Commission)
Guiding programs for population and family development involves communication and empathy. Tai Chi encourages patience and awareness, fostering deeper connections with communities.
PDRRMO (Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office)
Disaster preparedness requires strength, agility, and calm under pressure. Tai Chi builds physical balance and mental resilience, supporting leaders in times of challenge.
These lessons echo what I’ve seen in Canada, where Tai Chi strengthens adults 50+ in small communities. Learn more here: [Tai Chi for Adults 50+: Building Strength, Balance, and Community in Palmerston].
This session was more than an introduction—it was Vintage Vitality™ in practice. Inspired by my father’s belief in graceful aging, Vintage Vitality™ advocates for strong aging: aging with dignity, strength, and grace.
By bringing Tai Chi into the Provincial Capitol, we are weaving gentle movement into the daily rhythm of leadership. It is a way of caring not only for the community but also for the well‑being of those who serve it.
This philosophy is rooted in my vision of small‑town wellness. Read more here: [Small Town Wellness: Movement, Connection, and Community in Minto].
The most encouraging outcome of this introduction is our agreement to meet again every day starting April 14. This commitment reflects the leaders’ recognition that Tai Chi is not just exercise—it is a practice that supports their health, focus, and service to the province.
For those seeking a gentle yet effective pathway to fitness after 50, I share more here: [Gentle Fitness & Results After 50 (Pathway)].
As Vintage Vitality™ continues to grow, moments like this remind me that Tai Chi is more than movement. It is a philosophy of living with awareness, strength, and grace.
Together, we are not simply working or aging—we are becoming vintage: resilient, compassionate, and full of life.
