Welcome.
You are now part of a training space designed to develop not only your physical movement—but your focus, control, and resilience as future professionals in the field of criminal justice.
This page will serve as your central resource for guided practice, reflection, and weekly development.
As future criminal justice professionals, you will be placed in situations that require:
Calm decision-making under pressure
Situational awareness
Emotional control
Physical balance and coordination
Sun-Style Tai Chi is a gentle but powerful method to begin developing these skills.
Through slow, intentional movement, you train your ability to:
Stay grounded (“rooting”)
Move with control and awareness
Regulate your breathing
Maintain focus in the present moment
This is not about performance.
This is about control under pressure.
Begin with the following resources:
2. Resilience Through Movement (Life Applications)
3. Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention: Finding Ease in the Sun Style
Welcome to this gentle Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention sequence, developed by Dr. Paul Lam, Director of the Tai Chi for Health Institute.
This video features the complete routine demonstrated in both front and back views, making it easier to follow along and move with confidence at your own pace.
You are expected to practice 10–15 minutes daily.
Focus on:
Slow, controlled movement
Upright but relaxed posture
Natural breathing
Smooth transitions between steps
Important:
You are not required to be perfect. You are required to be consistent and aware.
Watch the Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention carefully. Pay attention to:
Body alignment
Breathing
Pace of movement
Follow along with the movements for at least 10–15 minutes per day.
Write a short reflection (150–250 words):
What did you notice about your body while moving?
When did you feel most focused or calm?
What was challenging for you?
In 2–3 sentences:
How can calm movement and controlled breathing help you in high-pressure situations in your future profession?
As you begin, remember:
You do not need prior experience
You do not need to be flexible
You do not need to “perform”
You only need to:
Show up
Move with awareness
Stay present
In your future career, you may face situations where everything happens quickly.
This training develops something essential:
The ability to remain steady, focused, and in control—especially under pressure.
Return to this page regularly.
Practice daily.
Build the habit early.
Your progress will come not from intensity—but from consistency and awareness.
